Reasons to Support the Hawk Meadow Foundation
The Hawk Meadow Montessori School in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. is in its ninth year of existence. A certified Montessori institution, the school employs about two-dozen women, teaching 85 children from toddlers through 9th grade. The school’s two owner/directors, Erin Castle and Barbara Katavolos, have built a reputation for fairness, inclusiveness and generosity in helping families and children of all backgrounds. Values are stressed in the effort to mold kind, caring, compassionate, and tolerant human beings.
Included in tuition, all children at the school are given music, art, Spanish and French. Upper elementary and middle school students are provided with instruction in activities including skiing, fencing, dance and parkour. They also benefit from the annual opportunity to participate in the Montessori Model United Nations program in New York City, a hugely beneficial – and hugely expensive – endeavor.
This generosity of spirit, while admirable, is not sustained by tuitions alone. To help fill the gap, a nonprofit Hawk Meadow Montessori School Foundation has been formed, to spread the school’s story and to attract donations. The school needs outside help to flourish, to continue offering all the programs, to add more programs and to find and purchase a new school property. Your donation today is very much appreciated.
